Topic: FAQs – Financially Awkward Questions

Speakers: Glenda Suchy, CFP®, CRPC® and Courtney Hoffman, AAMS

Session Description: At a time when information is literally at our fingertips, a few keystrokes away from that wealth of knowledge known as the internet, we may feel like we should have all the answers or at least be able to find them quickly.  But some questions need a little more expertise and we may just be too shy – or embarrassed – to ask them out loud.  But that’s what an advisor is for, to quite literally answer those questions that you don’t know the answer to – or don’t want to know the answer to.

Throughout her more than three decades in the financial services industry, Glenda has been fueled by a steady passion for helping others achieve their financial goals.

As lead advisor of The Suchy Team of Raymond James, she specializes in retirement and multigenerational planning for individuals and families. Seeing clients achieve their long-term financial goals continues to be very gratifying to her and her team. In addition to her Series 7, 66 and 24 securities licenses, which allow her to serve as a manager in the financial industry, she holds the professional designations CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and Chartered Retirement Planning CounselorSM, signaling her deep commitment to equipping herself with in-depth knowledge to help better serve her clients and team.

The Tulsa native was drawn to becoming a financial advisor because it perfectly combined her passion for finance with her love of teaching. She began her career as a financial advisor with Sooner Federal/LPL, which was later acquired by Bank of Oklahoma, where she spent over two decades. In 2004, Glenda and her team transitioned to Smith Barney, which merged with Morgan Stanley, where she developed several custom fee-based discretionary portfolios and earned the title of portfolio management director. In September 2017, Glenda, along with The Suchy Team, joined Raymond James, finding its core value of integrity in line with her own.

Glenda has always served the community, volunteering at church, school, and in her neighborhood association. She is an elder at Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church, where she also served as past president of the Kirk of the Hills Corporation. When she’s away from the office, she enjoys playing bridge, traveling, lake activities and spending time with her husband, Duane, and their three children and seven grandchildren.

Courtney played an integral role in three companies’ financial futures as a chief financial officer for nine years. Now, she’s applying her well-honed financial management skills in clients’ lives as a financial advisor for The Suchy Team of Raymond James. A natural communicator, she jumped at the chance to create custom goal plans for people and help them with all of the details of their financial lives.

Courtney has served as CFO to startup Soma Access Systems, Wetsco and MD MedTech, giving her broad expertise in the manufacturing and medical equipment fields. As a managing shareholder and CFO of MD MedTech from 2016 to 2018, she was responsible for all the financial activities of the company as well as the overall strategic direction as part of its executive management team. She joined Raymond James in February 2018 and earned the designation of Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM.

The Tulsa native earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration – accounting from Oklahoma State University. A member of the Bixby Chamber of Commerce, she was also selected for Leadership Bixby (Class XVII) and is an alum of Kappa Alpha Theta.

Courtney is a foodie, travel buff and sports fan. When she’s away from the office, she enjoys cheering on her alma mater, the OKC Thunder and all of her kids’ sports. She and her husband, Jonathan, have three children.
